I experienced improvement several weeks after completing treatment (48 sessions). I was really afraid that nothing was going to happen and that TMS would be a fail. My doctor suggested that I take a break and see what might happen during that period. I am pleased to report that it was during that time off that I noticed an distinct improvement in my condition.

I am on day #29 and have had a few episodes of feeling better. It’s been sweet for sure. But it hasn’t been the complete relief and recharge that I thought it would be; I thought that TMS would mean the end of depression and the beginning of a new, happy life. It looks like the reality will be somewhere in the middle. I hope that you have been able to find some healing from your treatment.

My understanding is that not everyone gets “the dip”, although I certainly did. It is hard to proceed with TMS when you don’t have a lot of clues that it is working. Be sure to talk with your psychiatrist administrator about the things you are noticing — or aren’t noticing — so you can set your mind at ease. I have also found it helpful to rely on friends and family for feedback about what they’re noticing as I moved through treatment. I’m on #27 and am hearing a lot of observations from others; that is helpful in framing what I see.

    Good luck!
