I developed anxiety and insomnia like I’ve never experienced before after two left side treatments, I see alot of posts about this but not alot of people saying whether they recovered or not. I appreciate any information or advice, I’m not going back, the doctor said they’ve never heard of this or seen it before.
June 12, 2021 at 1:25 am #50280I developed insomnia too but never related it to the TMS treatments. This explains it. But no anxiety. For the insomnia, I am taking 25-50 mg of Quetiapine. My doctor says I can take it for the rest of my life with no problems if need be. I had insomnia for about 5 months before I sought help for it. It is awful.
June 12, 2021 at 5:41 pm #50281Marilyn,
I was put on the same medication, it really helps. I’m also starting paxil in hopes it helps with the waking terrors. TMS was a huge mistake for me.June 12, 2021 at 6:20 pm #50282It’s great that the insomnia medication works so fast, isn’t it? Unlike antidepressants that seem to take forever to make a difference. I’ve had TMS twice and it worked both times for me – better the first time around and I didn’t need any medication. But it didn’t seem to start working f until after the 6 weeks of treatments had ended. It was very hard hanging in there – hope was the only thing that kept me going.
I’m so sorry the treatments didn’t work for you. Perhaps you could try a different doctor, as they all have their own methods.
I hope Paxil does the trick for you.
June 12, 2021 at 6:30 pm #50283I think I will try a different clinic if this anxiety continues.. it’s less than what it was originally but holy moly it’s still bad, I was hospitalized originally. Also the insomnia is very concerning.. even though this medicine does wonders, knocks me right out, and the dreams are actually quite fun lol. I’ll keep this updated just so others can know what to expect if they experience this. I think it’s a good sign other people stopped posting as the symptoms probably resolved for them.
August 8, 2021 at 2:48 am #50319I should clarify one of my previous remarks. I did not experience insomnia the first time I had TMS treatments. They worked wonders for me even if the improvement didn’t start until after the treatments had ended. However, I did experience insomnia around the time I started TMS the second time around.
September 4, 2021 at 8:18 pm #50338I see some comments have been removed, I think people should be aware of the dangers of TMS, and how it ruined me for months. Slowly getting better, but still not the same.
October 10, 2021 at 6:06 pm #50353kellerjor and Marilyn, did your anxiety get better?
October 10, 2021 at 6:26 pm #50357I don’t think I’ve experienced anxiety. I’m not sure of the definition – excessive worrying? I haven’t experienced that. TMS has worked for me twice , but it took a long time to see results – after the treatments stopped. My biggest problem now is lack of motivation. I am on 100 mg of Zoloft. It also took a long time to take affect – at least 8 weeks or more. It was so hard to hang in there, but glad I did. Zoloft appears to have helped with the insomnia.
There is no longer a doctor in my state who does TMS and takes Medicare. So in the future, I will have to have ECT treatments if the need arises. From what I’ve read, ECT has a higher success rate than TMS. TMS is new enough that it is still being fine tuned.
Hope this was helpful.
October 10, 2021 at 10:54 pm #50358So glad you’re doing better. this gives me hope. I hope you don’t need TMS again
October 10, 2021 at 10:55 pm #50359Kellerjor did you get any relief from your anxiety?
October 20, 2021 at 3:34 am #50364Curious, I wish I had better news, currently seeing a neurologist who’s going to run a concussion type course of treatment with my symptoms. I am better, but still having panic here and there. TMS definitely wasn’t for me, as it seems I’m experiencing most every side effect. She said I should return to myself within a year. Yay. Currently unable to work or live normally 🙁
October 20, 2021 at 7:10 pm #50368I hope you (and I) get better soon. Thank you Kellerjor
November 16, 2021 at 2:18 pm #50377I’m glad some of you got relief from Quetiapine but I was already on this med (Seroquel XR) and am in worse shape now than before I did my TMS therapy. Kept being told to trust the process, it will get better. Non of my side effects were reported in my chart online.
