Sorry if this has been asked before. I’m new here.

I started TMS yesterday and it went fine. The tech had to lower the intensity 2 notches from where he started so that I felt OK. Today he raised then intensity one notch and it was really uncomfortable and gave me a headache.

He told me that he’ll keep it at this same intensity again tomorrow. Not something that I’m looking forward to.

Do you acclimate to the discomfort over time? I can’t see doing 28 more sessions like today.

    Thanks

I had a bad session early on, it was almost unbearable. I told the technician and she moved the device a bit and all has been well since. See if they can readjust the headpiece a bit I am thinking mine might have been hitting a nerve, yours might be too. If he says he can’t move it I would ask to see the Dr who did your mapping because they can move it slightly and for me it made all the difference. Good luck. Oh, I take Tylenol prior to my treatment it helps.

Thank you. The tech moved it around a little, but never got too good. I’m definitely going to take Aleve or something before I go tomorrow.

catnip123- How was today’s treatment? Hoping they made an adjustment and it was better.

Today’s treatment went a lot better. I think it was the same intensity, but it wasn’t as uncomfortable. The tech says I’ll get used to it. Tomorrow tgay are raising the intensity afain.
I took some Aleve this morning so that may have helped.
    Thanks for asking

Day 4 was ok – a bit worse than day 3, but better than Day 2

I had my first treatment yesterday as well. The tapping/pulses on my scalp weren’t bad but the pain behind my eyes was bad. I was seeing flashes of light out of the corner of my eye when I got home. Today they adjusted it so my eyes didn’t hurt but it was killing my forehead. The Dr thought it was maybe my sinuses being irritated as I deal with lots of sinus inflammation anyway. Hopefully day 3 is better.

I hope your next treatment is better. Mine haven’t bothered my eyes, but the muscle above my left eye twitches.

Every so often I have a treatment that makes my left eye water throughout treatment.

@deb, I get the eye watering too! Seeing some progress now, but it’s not consistent. They’re extending another 5 weeks 2x per week. My crying is less, but some days I’m irritable. Yesterday was good. I’ll take some good days over 6 hours of daily crying. Good luck to all of you, hoping you get back to who you were!

Junebeatle- keep trying everyday, that’s all you can do is keep up the fight. All of us want to get back to who we were before depression and medicine. It gets to where you don’t know what is a cause or an effect.

Alafiia- hoping your treatments are getting easier.

Catnip- same to you- hoping the treatments are going smoother.

    Better days for everyone 🙂

Today wasn’t too bad. I think I’ve finally realized that its going to be pretty uncomfortable and I just gave to deal with it.
The tech told me that I’m at level 58 and need to get to 64!

Catnip123- Are you having NeuroStar treatment? Or a different manufacturer? I was told I needed to get to 120 with my NeuroStar treatment and I have been at that for about a week and a half or so. These numbers could be different depending on system being used or maybe how hard headed you are (just kidding). Getting better is tough but staying where we are at is tougher try to think of that, might help. Another thing is you might want to take a anxiety med if you have one before treatment, you might be tensing up and getting discomfort from that aspect to (I had this happen to a degree in the beginning). Kuddo’s to you for hanging in there.

The equipment is MagVita, so the numbers may differ. I just need to toughen up. With this system a hear a sequence of beeps, the the zaps start.
Thanks for your encouragement. I’m looking forward to having 2 days off for the weekend.

I finally reached my target intensity today and it wasn’t too bad. I asked the technician how they determine the target value and he told me it’s from the initial mapping and that everyone has different values. Mine is pretty like at 65 because I take some stimulants that make my brain hyper reactive to the pulses.
So things are going much better than last week.
