By the end of my sixth week of TMS, my depression had definitely lifted a bit. Though I did not see much improvement with my anhedonia or lethargy, I was making gains in conversing (it was becoming more natural) and socializing. I think I may have experienced ‘the dip’ the first week after treatment–if that is possible. Now, I am at the end of the second week post-TMS, and I have to say that the lethargy and anhedonia are lifting, and interacting with others is almost to its pre-depression state! I’m able to appreciate spring blooms and look at magazines without feeling defeated by smiles and the upbeat tone. I know others have mentioned they’ve benefited from TMS after treatment, but I think I assumed that experience was an anomaly. I’m writing to say that post-TMS growth is possible!
Sooxie, that is great news – so happy for you!! It’s been quite a ride, huh? Please continue to be brave and engage in life. The more we do it, the better we feel. Best, NeedMoreCowbell
Thanks, NeedMore, for the nice words. In addition to an update, I wanted to make sure my experience offered encouragement to anyone nearing the end of treatment or anyone not-quite-satisfied with their during-treatment results. I know I panicked as the 30th session drew near and, as I expressed, one week out of treatment I was at a low. Three weeks out and I am gardening and helping my son build a mousetrap car for science. Here’s to continuing progress for all of us!
