I’m on my third round of TMS. The first two times I was not on any medication for depression or anxiety since I have had bad experience with medication in the past. Since the end of my last round of treatments late last year I have been taking SAM-e. The SAM-e was suggested by a psychiatrist and so far it has really been beneficial for me. However, it does get expensive since it is not covered by insurance (it is a prescription in Europe but not the U.S.).
So I am going into my third round of TMS taking SAM-e. Just curious if anyone else has tried this combination of treatment: SAM-e and TMS. Did you find the results more successful? Were you able to reduce the amount of SAM-e taken?
I’m sorry to hear SAMe is expensive for you in the UK, it’s quite affordable here. I’m only on week 2 of TMS and since I’ve been so depressed, I’ve been pretty bad at taking pills. But, I will say that in a previous episode of depression SAMe made a significant impact on my depression, even more so than the multitudes of anti-depressants I took. I usually took 400mg every morning, but as I was feeling better I took 200mg. I started feeling a little better today (hoping the TMS is starting to work), and I will try harder to take my SAMe. I’ve also had go results combining it with 5-10mg of lithium orotate. Good luck!
